CIRCUIT ENGINEERING

Draw the return before sizing the skid.

A cleaning circuit includes the selected supply, equipment path, return and isolation boundary. Count connected circuits separately from those that must run together.

RETURN DECISIONQualified return → selected recovery tankRejected return → controlled drain

Production state: cleaning supply and return are isolated under the agreed valve and control arrangement. A drawn connection does not prove safe isolation.

One circuit

A defined path with known valves, equipment and return destination. Mark every branch included in the cleaning duty.

Many connections

A skid can serve multiple connected circuits sequentially. Scheduling and changeover determine the required cleaning window.

Concurrent duties

Two active circuits need a reviewed control and hydraulic arrangement, including total utility demand and independent return behavior.

A USEFUL NUMBER, WITH A LIMIT

Estimate straight-pipe liquid inventory.

Use the internal bore, not the nominal pipe label. The result excludes equipment, fittings, tanks and reserve volume. It is not total CIP tank sizing or a pump flow.

Example: 50 mm internal bore × 100 m ≈ 196.35 L.

V [L] = π × (ID [mm] / 1000)² ÷ 4 × length [m] × 1000.

Before approving the connection matrix

Keep production and cleaning states apart

Map your most difficult circuit.

Supply and return length, elevation and equipment restrictions are more useful than a guessed skid capacity.
