CIP CIRCUIT ENGINEERING

Single-Use vs Recovery CIP

Reuse is a return-quality and segregation decision. No recovery percentage is promised without a measured circuit and operating case.

Single-Use vs Recovery CIP: Return Qualification & Segregation
QuestionSingle useRecovery
DestinationDefine controlled discharge and site treatment capacity.Define the assigned tank and criteria for a qualified return.
Product separationConfirm residue and incompatible-medium handling.Review product, allergen, flavour and chemistry boundaries.
EvidenceRecord supply, return and discharge for the same cycle.Record measurement location, diversion logic and rejected return.

Define what a sensor can establish

Conductivity can support a phase or concentration decision under the agreed conditions. It does not establish the absence of product soil or microorganisms. Pair it with the plant’s defined chemistry and cleaning-verification methods.

Review failure routing

Document what happens when an instrument is invalid, the return is outside its accepted range or the recovery tank is unavailable. The drawing must include a rejected-return destination.

Engineering context

See the Tetra Pak Dairy Processing Handbook on cleaning dairy equipment for general cleaning-system context. The circuit drawing and acceptance conditions belong to the actual project.
