Start with a connection matrix
List which equipment may be in production while another circuit is being cleaned. Trace all possible common connections and define the isolation arrangement and leakage handling. A controller command alone cannot correct an unsuitable physical valve topology.
Define safe transitions
Record the permissions for filling, circulating, draining and returning equipment to production. Include maintenance states, loss of utilities, failed valve feedback and interrupted cycles. The plant and equipment suppliers must agree how each exception is handled.
Check changes as a system
A new branch or relocated return can introduce an unexpected path. Update drawings, control logic and operating checks together. Retrofit work should include a site survey and the existing equipment limitations, not just a larger skid.
